Inspiration for Tower Tagger

This project is a satirical take on the events that unfolded after the towers in downtown LA were abandoned. After the towers were left half finished, graffiti artists saw this as another spot to tag and show off their art. After the graffiti began to appear on the outer balconies of these buildings, police and security began patrolling and even using helicopters to find and deter artists in the buildings. After seeing these videos online I thought it kind of looked like a game of modern day Donkey Kong.

What would be considered normal in any other part of Los Angeles was turned into a spectacle and even a ridicule of Los Angeles as a whole by news sources, social media outlets, and even just people in general. Through social media, I saw more people making claims that this is the result of a ton of different issues including illegal immigrants, lack of respect of the youth, and pretty much every other issue old people have on Facebook. So I thought I would make a satirical game that showcases the absurdity of the whole situation.

The music was made with inspiration from west coast G-funk rap such as Ice Cube, Coolio, Warren G, and Snoop Dogg. If you like it and want more, here is a link to Ice Cube's "Ghetto Bird" which is another inspiration for this game.

Special Thanks

I want to give a special thanks to my friend Jason for voice acting for this game and for supporting my efforts. I also wanted to thank all of my classmates and professors in CTIN 544 as they always give me amazing feedback and encourage me to push myself as a game designer. Finally I'd like to thank my parents for their never ending support.
